In the summer of 1993 in a quaint little shack in Northern California, our first product, "Shakka Shakerz" was born. Inspired by watching world renown percussionist George Jinda, founder of Special Effects, Shakka Shakerz were first marketed door-to-door by their inventor, who later founded this company, International Art & Sound (aka I.A.S.).

Our mission has expanded over the years to promote quality affordable handmade percussion instruments as well as educate and empower those who wish to enhance their lives through music – particularly rhythm.  Over the past 14 years, we have fine-tuned our catalogue to include the wonderful items you see in the many different sections shown on the left side of this page and expanded ourselves as active participants and educators in the wide world of percussion.

In order to find great products, we attend various festivals and music industry trade shows, including the International Music Marketplace (N.A.M.M.) and the International Percussion Arts Society Convention (P.A.S.I.C.).  Our new products are tested to assure that you will enjoy your purchase and appreciate the quality of sound, durability and price points. Additionally, we are committed to facilitating, teaching and sharing rhythm through a variety of venues including drum circles, classes, workshops, educational media and soon, retreats.
